Rand Corporation researchers asked an interesting question: Instead of looking for the divisive points on gun control policy, they looked for areas of agreement. They polled nearly 100 experts and found them polarized: “There was no middle ground.”
Nonetheless, the researchers detected four broad areas of agreement:
- Expanded mental health prohibitions against gun ownership
- Required reporting of lost or stolen firearms
- A media campaign to prevent child access to firearms
- Surrender of firearms by prohibited possessors.
I like this kind of research, and commend Rand for doing it.
